Hello! My name is Kelly Michelle Thomas, I am an author and creator of this blog. I am a multi-faceted artist and wear many creative hats from time to time. One minute you can find me in my art studio sculpting or painting, the next, you can find me in my room writing poetry and short stories, or reading from books of classic poetry and getting lost in the world of words. I love art and poetry.

Over the years, since the early era of social media known as Myspace, I have shared my poetry here and there online. My poetry wasn't something I shared consistently because I have always been protective over my thoughts and writings but as of lately, I have found myself being more open about it. Sharing my poetry online is what eventually led me to self publish my debut poetry collection 125 Days. Back in 2015 I challenged myself to write every single day for 125 days and I would share my work on the blog I had back then for my followers to read. When I completed the challenge, I archived my work intending for it to not be seen again, but life had other plans and in 2021 I self published my collection and officially became an author. To this day, of all of the work I have created, 125 Days has been my greatest accomplishment that I am immensely proud of.

Why did I create Pretty Poesy?

After completing my 125 day challenge, I dedicated many years to my art and didn't write as much as I use to. When the pandemic hit and I quit my job to focus on my art, that's when I self published my collection and began to pick back up on my writing. I started to perform my poetry for the first time instead of keeping them all to myself. These stepping stones and accomplishments started to reignite my passion for this craft and I wanted to create a space solely dedicated to my writing like how I have a dedicated space for my art among other things as well:

I wanted to challenge myself...again!

I have a thing with challenging myself. I'm a pretty competitive person and when I challenge myself, it's like I'm my own competition...and I want to win! I want to keep up with my writing and committing to this blog gives me motivation to keep on writing. I mean, if I can write for 125 days then I can do just about anything I set my mind to. I proved that to myself

To offer inspiration, tips, writing prompts, reviews, and so much more!

"Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful."

— Rita dov

That quote couldn't be any more true! Poetry is such a powerful form of art and has the ability to impact deep. Words are powerful and I hope to inspire many by showing them how deep you can go with the language and expanding your creativity and mind, especially if you're a budding poet.

I hope you decide to subscribe and stick around to see all that I have in mind and how this blog will grow. I'm not sure where this adventure will take me, but I'm always down for the ride and hope you are too. After all, you got a thing for words and that's pretty poesy.
